An online store is an easy way to reach more customers. There are no geographical, time, language boundaries, unlike brick-and-mortar businesses. With the increasing number of online shoppers, it must be a piece of cake to drive sales right? But the reality is slightly different. Maybe your store isn’t making sales despite all of your efforts. Is that because you are going in the wrong way? The reason might be something you never thought that it will affect sales. We will give you some possible reasons for your store isn’t making sales. Low-quality images and insufficient product details When buying online, images and descriptions are the main things that customers can rely on. If you have provided poor quality content, you will lose your credibility. Try to upload high-quality images and showcase the products from multiple angles. Product description must convey the value of products and how can they benefit for customers. The reason it seems that your customers only care about the price is, you haven’t provided anything else for them. So, make sure you have enough content that will help them to decide on buying. Missing contact information This is another place that your customers can make your customer doubtful of your credibility. If there is no contact info or at least a customer support email service, it will be hard to trust you. So, provide contact info and make sure they are available anytime and responsive. Complex checkout process One reason for your store isn’t making sales is due to the complex checkout process. If you provide so many steps to complete the process like when you see in government offices, it will frustrate the customers. This will drop the number who reach the final step of the checkout process. Asking customers to create an account is also something that will cause your customers to abandon the cart. Let customers go through the process and later you can ask them to register and save the info as they might want to return. Hidden shipping charges This is a major turn down for anyone. Revealing shipping charges only at the final step of the checkout process can be seen frequently. It makes customers drop the cart. This action will make your customers not trust you and never return to the store. If this happens continuously, you will have to shut down the business. So, display shipping charges on the cart page or better, on the product page. Mobile-unfriendly tap-targets Majority of online shoppers use mobile phones for browsing and having small tap-targets, icons and links can be inconvenient for them. So, ensure your site doesn’t have such issues that make customers uncomfortable. Your online store must include images and other contents that goes well with any device. Making customers confused over the process Some websites make you feel like you are trapped in a maze. What is the next step? What should I do now? Do not let your customers be lost like this and make it easy to navigate and guide them step by step. This will provide your customers with a better shopping experience. Lack of promoting You just can’t wait for consumers to come to you but need to find where your prospects are at and make them come to you. You have to set goals and a proper marketing strategy for your business. Content marketing, social media marketing and even paid marketing also need to be done to promote your brand. When you have enough customers, collect reviews and testimonials from them and use them as social proof to establish your brand’s credibility and authority. Not engaging to your customers Neglecting your customers is something you need to stop. You are probably thinking that if your business is doing well and have enough ales and profit, that’s all you need. But only if you have customers can you make gain sales and profit. Little to no customer engagement will make your customers and prospects unhappy and frustrated with your service. To run the business smoothly, you need to cater to your customers and respond to them well. Make sure you reply to their emails or other types of requests and questions. For frequent and common questions, you can get a chat-bot to automate the process and you can focus on more complicated and unique questions. It will help you to get to know what your customers expect from you and also how can you improve. Targeting the wrong audience Without a proper understanding of your products or services, you cannot identify your ideal prospects. After fully understanding your products, you can research who use these products, where you can find them, what social media platforms they use etc. Then you can promote your service targeting them on suitable platforms. Do not just invest your time and money on any social media platform or paid advertisements. Improper pricing Just like any other thing, the price also has its boundaries. It can’t go lower or higher than it should be. When you are pricing your products, you need to research the market and your competitors. If you think people will buy if it has a low price, you are wrong. It will give them an idea that the product is not in good quality. Plus, you need to make a profit in business. If the products are expensive, you won’t be able to stop your potential customers from looking for other stores who are your competitors. So, be wise when pricing. All of the above points might be things you knew but didn’t consider them as that important. But they directly affect sales and can be the reason for your store isn’t making sales. So, if you have been practising these wrong habits, you need to change as soon as possible.
